RPU Reader and Contributor Isabelle was one lucky lady last night. She attended Sam’s Show at the Virgin FF in Montreal Quebec. Then to top the night off — she got to meet the man himself. Here’s her pics and details from the night. Oh and there’s a little scoop in there about an upcoming album. Thanks Isabelle!
Just wanted to let you know that everything went great! Sam is great in concert. A few funny moments though. First, when he got on the stage, people politely applauded since he’s an unknown here. I screamed “Go, Sam!” and I swear the poor man blushed. Then, he says it’s his last song and I yelled “SoHo”, which surprised him again lol. He did his planned song then nodded to his bandmates and I then heard the opening of SoHo Whores. I was in heaven!!
Then, at the autograph session, my friend thought it would be nice to remind him I was THAT girl that screamed lol. He just smiled and said “I know”. My turn to blush. We talked a bit about his music and fyi, an album is coming out in 2 weeks but will only be available during concerts. Bit of a scoop here from the mouth of Sam Bradley himself.

So, I’ll probably see him again in August in NYC and he told me to come and say hi after the show. Said he’d remember me and that he’d see me later.
He did sing “Too far gone” and I have to say something that’ll strike you funny. Here was this girl, waiting for Simple Plan, with a Twilight shirt on and she kept asking who the guy on the stage was. I waited until the end of the show and told her she had just seen the guy that co-wrote ”Never Think” with Rob. Thought she was going to faint!!
Top Actors Moonlight in the Music Business
Dish Rag takes a look at the actors who are crossing over into Music.
There are a number of actors who have portrayed musicians over the years. Val Kilmer is considered by many to have portrayed the definitive Jim Morrison in the Oliver Stone biopic The Doors. Lou Diamond Phillips was cast as Ritchie Valens in La Bamba. Jamie Fox took to the silver screen as Ray Charles in Ray and numerous actors took on the role of Bob Dylan in I’m Not There.
As many actors as have portrayed famous musicians over the years there seems to be an ever-growing number of actors who have chosen to take the concept a step further and actually pursue musical careers while still maintaining their acting credibility. While the concept of musicians pursuing acting careers has been around as far back as Elvis Presley, these days, there seems to be an even greater influx of already established actors tackling roles as musicians. Dish decided to round up the top actors pulling double duty these days as musicians and came up with the following list of their most recent projects.
Robert Pattinson – Bad Girls
Ranked as the #1 actor worldwide on IMDB’s STARmeter, Robert Pattinson has a lot going for him. Young girls all over the world swooned as they watched him play Edward Cullen, the pale faced vampire in last year’s film adaptation of Stephanie Meyer’s hit series, Twilight. The up-and-coming actor is also a musician, and has been for quite a while. He plays guitar and piano and is a phenomenal singer, but he has not recorded much more than a few tracks of his own music, opting instead to play pubs and other intimate venues. Of the few songs that are recorded, however, two (“Never Think” and “Let Me Sign”) are on the Twilight soundtrack. “Let Me Sign” is a haunting electric blues ballad whose dark themes echo those of the movie that has made him a huge star. In “Never Think,” Pattinson interprets simple lyrics with tortured vocals, telling a story that explores some of young love’s darker contradictions. In his recent film How To Be (2008), Pattinson sings three original songs for the soundtrack. The Twilight Saga: New Moon and Little Ashes are two new Pattinson starrers set for release later this year. According to IMDB, he has also been cast in the lead roles for two films still in pre-production (Unbound Captives and Remember Me). His current band, in which he plays with an ex-girlfriend’s current boyfriend, is called Bad Girls

Must Musical Clique
Names/Ages:
Robert Pattinson, 23; Bobby Long,22; Sam Bradley 22; Marcus Foster, 23
Why Them
One of three names you know. The others you might not, but their profiles are quickly rising, thanks to their songwriting work on the still-hot Twilight soundtrack. Bradley co-penned “Never Think” wth Pattinson, while Long and Foster wrte bonus track “Let Me Sign”.
Friends in High Places
How did three obscure musicians score such a prominent gig? They had an in:Foster and Bradley went to school with the British Actor; Long me the other three at an open-mike night (Before Twilight, Pattinson was also an aspiring singer.) Despite their friendship, their music is quite different. Bradley favors a rock vibe, Long is more folk-inclined, and Foster owes something to Tom Waits.
This Doesn’t Suck
Bradley was on his way to use the bathroom when Pattinson called to say their song was going to appear in Twilight. “I p—ed myself,” he says. Really? “No.”
Next
The trio will reunite at July’s TwiCon in Dallas. “It’s going to be mental,” says Foster. Will Pattinson sit in? “I wouldn’t turn up there if I was him,” says Long. Foster hopes to record some songs with Pattinson soon: “It might be my stuff, or his stuff, or some stuff we wrote together.”
On their Must Lists
Long loves rockers the Felice Brothers, while Bradley is a fan fo Vancouver singer Shera Kelly. One of Foster’s favorite actors is Christopher Walken, who’s forthcoming film $5 a Day features another of Foster’s songs.

Magazine Scan: Ok! — Rob to have 2 Songs on New Moon Soundtrack?

Ok Mag is reporting that Rob will have 2 of his own creations on the New Moon soundtrack. Consider the Source and consider this one a rumor only.
Robert Pattinson Sings the Blues
Playing a brooding vampire isn’t Pattinson’s only gift — He’s also an amazing singer!
Morphing into seductive vampire Edward Cullen might pay the bills, but Robert Pattinson’s other passion has him using a different skill set. The smoldering 23-year-old bachelor’s heart belongs to music. “It just spills out of him,” Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke tells OK! of Pattinson, who has been playing piano and guitar since age 3.
“He also makes these compositions that are almost the most beautiful classical pieces you have ever heard.” Two of the British-born Pattinson’s creations will even appear in the series second film, New Moon, which is currently filming in Vancouver. The crooner may lead all-night jam sessions with co-stars, but he’s equally happy holed-up alone, strumming his guitar and singing in a style that rivals his idol, Van Morrison. “the guy is limitlessly talented,” says Hardwicke. “You would think that is a 60-year-old blues singer.”
Fandango Exclusive Interview: Robert Pattinson
In this interview with Fandago, Rob comments again on his “top secret” Soundtrack project and even leaves an open to a few songs for New Moon.
“Surreal” is a word that perfectly suits Robert Pattinson’s life at the moment.
Not only is the up-and-comer adjusting to a new, hyper-famous life after Twilight’s rabid fan base sunk their teeth into his brooding portrayal of the undead romantic hero Edward Cullen (and became as addicted to the newly minted star as the saga’s vampire clan is to hemoglobin), he’s also playing the famed Spanish surrealist painter Salvador Dalí in his latest film. Little Ashes chronicles Dalí’s formative years at university, where he became embroiled in a complex, obsessive and sexually charged relationship with future poet Federico García Lorca.
Pattinson paints Fandango a portrait of how he climbed into Dalí’s surreality, bares a bit of fang on fame, stays in the shadows during frenzied fan encounters and even offers a nibble of New Moon scoop.
Fandango: There was the showy, intentionally bizarre public Dalí and then there is his art, which should be taken very seriously. Have you thought about that as it applies to your own work?
Pattinson: Yeah. He had a fanatical control over how he was perceived. But now it’s really out of control – out of your control. Your public image just seems to be in the hands of faceless strangers. You see these stories come up all the time and you’re like, “Jesus. How do you know…?”
Fandango: Is it harder playing a real person, as opposed to playing the fictional Edward Cullen who had his story laid out in black and white?
Pattinson: I think in a lot of ways it’s kind of the same. You’re still playing fiction even though you’re playing a real character. It’s the same kind of approximation of somebody. The only thing that you can take from the book is the general outline, the mood changes, the emotional changes and development. I’m not playing it exactly as it is in the book.
Fandango: Dalí was a famed surrealist and no doubt you’ve had your share of surreal experiences in the last few months – like fans screaming over cardboard cutouts of you at the video store.
Pattinson: I know! I was in a Blockbuster on the day it was being released. I had forgotten it was being released that day. There were two families who had come with eight- or nine-year old-daughters to get their DVD. They were standing in the line crying and I stood watching what all this commotion was about. They didn’t know I was there or anything. I was just thinking “Wow, you’re crying about a DVD.” It’s fascinating.
Fandango: And you never revealed yourself to them?
Pattinson: No way! [laughs]
Fandango: Do you and your castmates try to top each other with the wild post-fame encounters you’ve had?
Pattinson: In a lot of ways they are all quite similar. The funny thing is that I’m always going around trying to look as inconspicuous as possible I find that people are always really disappointed when they actually recognize me. They are like ‘”Oh! At first I thought you were a bum but then I realized who you were.”
Fandango: You’re just getting started shooting New Moon. How are things going?
Pattinson: The interesting thing about this one is that so much of my character is in Bella’s head. It’s based on a mixture of memories and nightmares. Bella thinks she is going mad. I get to do some really creepy stuff. In other words, Bella is really frightened of [her hallucinations]. It’s really, really different than Twilight. I think that a lot of people will be kind of scared by this one. I wanted to try and put that into Twilight but I couldn’t really find a way to make Edward scary.
Fandango: How is working with the new director, Chris Weitz?
Pattinson: He’s a great guy. He’s very, very talented, and articulate. I guess it must be kind of stressful for him to take this on. It’s got so much expectation. He just seems very calm about everything.
Fandango: What was it like attending the Academy Awards for the first time?
Pattinson: I got there and then I’m sitting in the second row. It was unbelievable. I keep thinking that something terrible is going to happen. “Death” is the only thing I’m thinking the whole time. I just used up all my luck so I’m probably going to die at 23 or something.
Fandango: Did you discover that any of the hugely famous stars that were there were actually fans of Twilight, or their kids love the movie?
Pattinson: Robin Wright Penn came up to me. I thought that was kind of amazing after her husband had just won Best Actor. That was very, very surreal.
Fandango: You contributed a couple of songs to the Twilight soundtrack. Are you still pursuing music, and will you be doing more for New Moon?
Pattinson: I’m in talks to do a soundtrack for another movie, composing. I cannot say what it is yet, but I really, really, really want to do. I don’t think I’m going to have anything on New Moon, but never say never.
Fandango: And next you might be doing Memoirs, which has been described as a story of two star-crossed lovers trying to overcome family tragedies.
Pattinson: That will hopefully happen. It’s not finalized yet. It’s a great script and it’s something different from anything I’ve done before. I was in New York working on rewrites the other day with Jenny [Lumet, screenwriter of Rachel Getting Married]. It seemed like its going to be really, really, really good.
Fandango: Finally, for many people, Dalí became known as the artist with the crazy mustache and today you’re the actor with the wild hair. Did you recognize the parallel in the hirsute trademarks?
Pattinson: [laughs] I didn’t think about that, but it’s funny because people are still bringing up my hair, even though I cut it off to make it different. That is quite funny. God. I hope that I don’t get known for that for the rest of my life.
Audio: Kellan Lutz in Radio Interview “Rob Talented and Amazing”
While in Australia, Kellan called into the Kyle and Jackie O Show and talked Twilight, Fans and Robert. Kellan let us in on how the cast spent their last night after filming. Listen to the audio below.
“The thing with Rob is he never gets pissed. He’s a shy guy and very just humble. And I really don’t think anything can get to him. In a way just because he is so collective of who he is and he’s so talented. Like I’ve never met someone who can — I don’t know — just — just do anything and everything in a way. When he picks up that guitar and he sings and he opens this part up of his throat — that’s just — it’s magical.” Kellan goes on to say ” I remember our last day of wrapping on New Moon for myself we all hung out in his room and he just started playing and he’s amazing.”
Alexander Desplat to score New Moon
Alexandre Desplat, french composer, has signed on to score “Twilight Saga: New Moon”. Alexandre has a long working relationship with Chris Weitz.
New Moon, the upcoming sequel to last year’s massive hit Twilight, gets an original score by French composer Alexandre Desplat. The assignment of the Curious Case of Benjamin Button composer has been confirmed to Upcoming Film Scores by Desplat’s manager. This means that Carter Burwell, whose ‘Bella’s Lullaby’ became an immediate success with Twilight fans, does not return to the sequel. The reason is that New Moon director Chris Weitz already has an ongoing working relationship with Desplat who scored his fantasy epic The Golden Compass. Desplat’s other previous films include The Queen, Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium and Lust, Caution. The Twilight Saga: New Moon will hit theatres on November 20.
